As many of you already know – Google has made it increasingly difficult to fetch search volume data for individual keywords. They are now displaying range volumes on Google Keyword Planner for low-spending or non-active accounts, which has made it difficult for us to get the data we need for our platform.
However, we have come up with a solution, and added it to the platform. This post is a step-by-step guide as to how you can integrate your own AdWords account with our platform to get more accurate search volume data.
When you first signed up for the platform and setup your account – you would have had the option to integrate your Google Analytics as well as your Google Search Console accounts to the platform. Integrating your Google AdWords account is just as easy. We do encourage all of our customers to do this, so we can continue to provide reliable and accurate data. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to do so.
Navigate your way to the Authoritas App and click on the Settings drop-down menu in the top right-hand corner. Scroll down to where is says Configure AdWords, illustrated in figure 1 below.
Next you will need to login to your AdWords account and click on the 3 dot menu item in the top right-hand corner, and choose ‘Account Access’, as shown in figure 2 below.
You will then need to add an additional user to your AdWords account, and as per the instructions within the app – it will be a [joe.blogs] @authoritas.com email address we have assigned to your account. You will find it highlighted in blue, illustrated in figure 3 below.
After you have copied this email address, add it as a new user in the ‘Account Access’ section of you AdWords account, and allow it ‘Read Only’ access. Click ‘Send Invitation’, as illustrated in fig 4 below.
After you have given Read Only access to the email address, log back into the Authoritas app and don’t forget to check the box to notify us that you have granted us access (figure 5) and click ‘Save’.
That should do it!
There are a few things to note:
- Your Adwords account must be an active account that has a monthly budget allocated to it. There is no definitive minimum spend but if you log in and see that it is displaying range data this will not work.
- Once configured, you can go back to the section of the platform where you started configuring AdWords to review the status page. This will tell you whether the configuration was successful and which account the site has been configured to use
- Once everything is up and running – we will notify you of the successful integration
