Happy 2018 everyone!

I know we are a few weeks into 2018 already but who wants to get rid of that ‘new year, new me, new goals’ feeling?! I, for one, do not. So, here’s to a successful and prosperous new year, everybody!

As part of this new year, comes a new feature in the platform. I know right, “already!?” you may ask… Yup, we’ve been hard at work and have just released the functionality for you to change your site from http to https within the platform. You no longer have to get in touch with us in order to do so. Here’s a step by step explanation of how to change it yourself.

Step 1:

Log into the platform and navigate your way to the ‘Settings’ dropdown menu and click on the ‘Sites’ menu item

Step 2:

Navigate your way to the ‘Actions’ column of the site you wish to change and click on ‘Edit URL/Protocol’

Step 3:

After you have clicked on this, a window will pop up where you can change the http protocol as well as the site URL

Click on the dropdown to change the protocol

Once changed, the platform will check the http status code, as shown below

It will then let you know if the URL is a 200 OK (green), 3XX Redirect (orange) or Error (red)

Depending on whether you have changed the URL or the protocol, you will get slightly different messaging within the platform. If you change the URL, you will see this message appear in the platform:

If you only change the protocol, you will see the following message appear within the platform

You might still have http pages indexed in Google that you’d like to monitor, so if you want to continue to monitor both http and https sites, feel free to add the https version as a new site in the platform. Please note that depending on you package size and limits, you may incur additional charges should you do this.

The main advantage of being able to change your protocol within the platform is that all of your historical data for that site will still be available in the same campaign.

Feel free to get in touch or email support@authoritas.com, should you have any questions or comments.
