Keyword Ranking data and tools you can rely on

November 2023: We are SGE ready! We're probably the only keyword rank tracker that can tell you where you are ranking in Google's Search Generative Results!

Here's 5 key differences to your standard keyword ranking tool

Can your keyword rank checking software provider match these features and value for money?

Rank tracking capabilities now include generative experience tracking

SGE Tracking

We are the only major SEO platform that can monitor your rankings in Google's new Search Generative Experience.

We can tell you who is ranking before and after the SGE element is clicked.

Accurate

We use a real anonymous web browser to emulate a real user and improve data accuracy.

We 'type' our queries and paginate like a real user.  Most ranking software gets 100 results at a time which is much less accurate.

>50 SERP Features & User Intent

No other SEO platform detects as many Google Universal SERP features or gives you full user intent scores, including detecting local intent.

Global scale with hyperlocal accuracy

Query any major search engine internationally and zoom in to post/zip code or even decimal latitude and longitude to get keyword rankings from your front door.

Multi-platform

Access your keyword ranking data in the user interface, in Google Sheets or Excel, in your internal SEO dashboards using our Platform API, in Big query and Google Looker Data Studio.  Or even, use our SERPs API and take it anywhere.

We love helping clients to overcome their biggest SEO challenges

Here's just what a few SEOs think about our keyword ranking capabilities.

We need a rank tracking solution that fits an international SEO setup covering 100 domains, 30 languages and multiple search engines. Linkdex/Authoritas matches our requirements really well. The team is also a pleasure to work with, it feels more like a partnership rather than a traditional supplier-client relationship as we support each other with insights, ideas and solutions to succeed.

The best two things about Analytics SEO (Now Authoritas) are: 1. Monitoring you clients' keyword rankings. ASEO has the BEST data. Our agency's CEO has heard from many sources that the keyword ranking data ASEO has is the best in the industry. You can monitor a client's keyword ranking across many search engines, countries, states, and even cities. 2. Customer service is AMAZING. Even though they are a British company, their customer support is top notch for us users in the states. Many times, Laurence, the CEO of ASEO, personally follows up on customer questions, etc.

Organic search is a massive opportunity. Our consumers want to buy the right handset and they do a lot of research. So the opportunity isn't just in search engine rankings, it is in getting a better understanding of where consumers go in the wider digital ecosystem and exploring how we can work with third party sites and influence consumers as they are conducting their research. Linkdex has helped us do this.

The analysis of keywords, research and identification of trends is very important to a site like ours. The Market Intelligence solution enabled us to detect opportunities easily. It also allowed us to identify competitors who are targeting high value keywords which allowed us to identify their strategy.

More than happy with the service, and more than happy to get our clients to use it. Had some brilliant results using the FAQ Explorer and today I am yet again, using Visibility Explorer for another sales opportunity. Simply cannot live without the tools you provide.

How do I check my keyword ranking?

You can check your keyword ranking yourself using any internet connected device.

The issue with doing this is that it’s manual, it’s time consuming and expensive to scale for lots of keywords.

You also still have to download and store the data before visualising and analysing it.
Not to mention that the results will be biased to what Google knows about you and your device, IP and search and location history.

It is much easier and you will get much better results if you use a keyword ranking tool, like Authoritas, that can automate this whole process for you.

How do I check my keyword ranking on Google and other search engines?

Want to know how to check your keyword ranking on Google, Google Local/Maps, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, Baidu, Naver, Sogou, DuckDuckGo or any other search engine?  Well, you could simply go to the relevant search engine and type in your keyword and capture the results.  Then repeat this hundreds or thousands of times.

Apart from not being a very efficient solution, it would also not give you very accurate results as most search engines personalise the results to some degree based on which country or language version you are trying to query, whether you are logged in, your search history, cookies, search history from your IP address, your device and your location (geolocation is detected via the browser or even WIFI or assumed from your IP address).

For this reason, you need to use a keyword ranking tool, like Authoritas, which can emulate what a search engine would show a real anonymous user from a given location on a mobile or desktop device.
This allows you to use an efficient process which can get you accurate international, national or local results anywhere in the world.

How can I improve my keyword ranking?

When it comes to increasing your keyword ranking, there are three main types of methods you can use: on-page optimisation, off-page optimisation, and technical optimisation.  In order to choose the best method for your site, you need to first understand each of these types of optimisation.

On-page optimisation is the process of making your site's pages more friendly to search engines. This includes adding keywords to your title tags, meta descriptions, and header tags, as well as ensuring that your site's content is high-quality and relevant to your target audience.

Off-page optimisation is the process of improving your site's ranking through external means. This includes developing strong links back to your site from other high-quality sites, as well as promoting your site through social media and other online channels.

Technical optimisation is the process of ensuring that your website is as robust as possible.  This includes eliminating errors from spider traps, server issues, dead links, poor mobile experience and poor page experience (speeding-up large slow loading pages which users hate).
A combination of all these elements applied systematically over-time will improve your appeal to users and will likely see a corresponding increase in your organic search engine rankings.

Can you import keyword rank history from other keyword ranking tools and SEO platforms?

Yes, we can almost always convert and import your keyword ranking history from other SEO platforms.  This is normally done by you exporting a .csv file of your projects from the other keyword or SEO tool.

For large enterprise customers and agencies with hundreds of website and hundreds of thousands of keywords, this can also be done by using the other platform’s API if they have one – please ask your Client Success Manager for details.

We have successfully imported clients’ keyword ranking data, including historic ranking information, from the following SEO Platforms and SEO Tools.

How do I see keyword rankings in Google Analytics?

Ever since Google introduced ‘Not provided’ and started replacing your keywords with the dreaded ‘not provided’ text instead, the value of using Google Analytics to see which keywords are important contributors to your organic traffic has diminished considerably, as now over 90% of all keywords are hidden.

But you can connect your Google Search Console account to your Google Analytics account and this gives you a few different ways to see your keyword rankings in Google Analytics.

The first way is to go to the Acquisition tab and then click on All Traffic. Under the Source/Medium column, you'll be able to see your keyword rankings.

The second way is to go to the Behaviour tab and then click on Site Content. Under the Landing Pages column, you'll be able to see your keyword rankings.

The third way is to go to the Conversions tab and then click on Goals. Under the Goal Details column, you'll be able to see your keyword rankings.

But the best way is to use an SEO tool, like Authoritas, which tracks millions of keywords so can give you insights as to which are your money keywords without using analytics data from Google, Adobe or other website analytics software.

What is a good keyword ranking?

First, let's start with the basics. What is a keyword ranking? In essence, it's a measure of how well your website is doing in the search engine results pages (SERPs) for a given keyword or phrase. The higher your ranking, the more likely you are to be found by potential customers.

This is why monitoring your keyword rankings is important.  If your competitors are higher than you for keywords that your potential customers are typing then they will be getting more clicks and more potential customers than you, directly impacting the financial performance of your business and your competitiveness.

What is a good ranking?  Well, someone has to be first.  If you have really relevant and helpful content and can demonstrate your expertise in an area then you have a shot at ranking first.  Many click-thru rate and user studies have demonstrated that the first organic result gets a disproportional number of clicks compared to the second, third and lower placed listings.  So, strive for number 1, if you really feel you have the expertise to deliver the best results to users for a given term.

Also remember, that it’s not just about ranking in the organic results any more.  You can also look to rank first for any number of universal search features which are prominent for your keywords, including image, video, news, research guides and local packs.

What is a keyword ranking report?

A keyword ranking report is a document that shows how a website or web page is performing in terms of search engine ranking for specific keywords or phrases. The report can be used to help identify which keywords or phrases are most important to the site's marketing efforts, and to track the site's progress over time.

The easiest way to generate a keyword ranking report is to use your favourite SEO platform or keyword rank tracker.  Obviously, we’d say that the Authoritas keyword ranking tool does this as well (if not better) than any other keyword tool.  Whichever, tool you use, ensure that as a minimum if offers you:

- Daily rankings
- Accurate rank checks from using a real browser and location (not SEO trickery)
- Different rankings for mobile and desktop users
- SERP feature detection so you can see opportunities for all types of content
- User Intent so you can focus on commercial not informational keywords (for the majority of users anyway)
- Keyword grouping or Tagging
- Search volumes
- Comparison of changes over time
- A variety of export formats including Excel, .csv and Google Looker Data Studio
